Note: Refers to the dimensions of an object that are visible to the eye, as distinct from the actual size of the object. It is typically used to describe the dimensions of the portion of a two-dimensional work of art that are visible within the window of a frame or mat, not including those parts of the work that are hidden by the rabbet of the frame or the area of the mat. It may also be used to describe the frame or mat itself, referring to the size of the opening through which a work of art would be seen.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar dat deel van een voorwerp dat zichtbaar is voor het oog, ter onderscheiding van de feitelijke grootte van het voorwerp. Meestal wordt de term gebruikt bij het beschrijven van de afmetingen van dat deel van een tweedimensionaal kunstwerk dat zichtbaar is binnen het venster van een lijst of passe-partout, zonder die delen van het werk die aan het oog zijn onttrokken door de sponning of het gebied van de passe-partout. De term kan ook worden gebruikt bij een beschrijving van de lijst of passe-partout zelf, en verwijst dan naar de grootte van de opening waardoor een bepaald kunstwerk gezien wordt. |
| Spanish ..... Se refiere a las dimensiones de un objecto que es visible a los ojos, a diferencia del tamaño real del objecto. Es usado generalmente para describir las dimensiones de una porción de una obra de arte bidimensional que son visibles dentro de la ventana de un marco o tela, no incluye esas partes de una obra que están escondidas por el ranura del marco o el área de una tela. Puede ser usado para describir el marco o la misma tela, refiriéndose al tamaño de una apertura a través de la cual una obra de arte puede ser vista. |
