Note: Christian Pentecostal denomination formed in Canada and the United States in the early 20th century out of previously independent Pentecostal churches. The Assemblies of God are in the Baptist tradition and specifically believe that speaking in tongues is evidence of baptism by the Holy Spirit. The denomination promotes missionary work all over the world.
