Note: Sewn boats of East Africa origin, about thirty or fourty tons, and having a long curved prow, and rigged with a square sail of coarse matting. No longer used, mitepe were mainly engaged in traffic along the section the Swahili Coast that lies between Zanzibar and the Lamu Islands.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 源於東非的縫裝船，約三十至四十公噸重，有長而彎曲的船頭，帆面是以粗布製作的橫帆。主要作為位於桑吉巴(Zanzibar)和拉姆群島(Lamu Islands)間之史瓦希利海岸(Swahili Coast)沿岸地區的交通工具，現已不再使用。 |
| Dutch ..... #Sewn boats van Oost-Afrikaanse oorsprong met een inhoud van circa dertig tot veertig ton en een lange gebogen boeg. Ze werden getuigd met een vierkant zeil van ruw matwerk. Mitepe zijn niet meer in gebruik en werden voornamelijk ingezet in het verkeer langs de kust van Swahili tussen Zanzibar en de Lamu-eilanden. |
| German ..... Genähtes Boot ostafrikanischen Ursprungs, fasst ungefähr 30 oder 40 Tonnen, hat einen lang geschwungenen Bug und ist getakelt mit einem viereckigen Mattensegel. Nicht länger verwendet, waren die Mtepen hauptsächlich entlang des Abschnittes der Swahili-Küste im Einsatz, der zwischen Sansibar und dem Lamu-Archipel liegt. |
| Spanish ..... Bote cosido originario del este de África, de aproximadamente 30 o 40 toneladas, que tiene una proa larga y curvada, y que está aparejado con una vela cuadrada de toscas esterillas. Estuvieron destinadas principalmente al tráfico a lo largo de la sección de la Costa Swahili que se extiende entre Zanzíbar y las islas Lamu. |
