|
Note: Refers to a distinctive style that developed in Flanders and northern France, beginning in the late tenth century and lasting through the 12th century. The style is seen in manuscript illumination, wall painting, and other art, and is formed by the merging of styles on the continent with Anglo-Saxon styles from across the Channel in England. The style is characterized by dynamic evolution and differs from surrounding regional styles in its more intimate scale, linear vitality, fluid patterns of curves, dancing buoyancy of figures, and illusionism.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar een aparte stijl die zich ontwikkelde in Vlaanderen en Noord-Frankrijk vanaf de late 10de eeuw tot in de 12de eeuw. De stijl is zichtbaar in verluchtingen van manuscripten, muurschilderingen en andere kunstvormen, en is gevormd door het samengaan van stijlen van het Europese vasteland met Angelsaksische stijlen van de overzijde van het Kanaal. De stijl kenmerkt zich door een dynamische evolutie en verschilt van omringende regionale stijlen door de intiemere schaal, lineaire vitaliteit, gebogen lijnen in vloeiende patronen, opgewekt dansende figuren en illusionisme. |
| Spanish ..... Se refiere a un estilo distintivo que se desarrolló en Flandes y Francia del norte y que comienza a fines del siglo X extendiéndose a través del siglo XII. El estilo se ve en ilustración de manuscritos, murales y otras artes y está formado por la fusión de estilos en el continente con estilos anglosajones a lo largo del Canal de la Mancha en Inglaterra. El estilo se caracteriza por su dinámica evolución y se diferencia de los estilos regionales circundantes en su escala más íntima, vitalidad lineal, fluidos modelos de curvas, liviandad de movimiento de las figuras e ilusionismo. |
