Note: Refers to the style associated with Laos located in the valley of the Upper Mekong. The hybrid style reflects Myanmar, Thai, and Khmer influences. The basis of the artistic style of this region is religion and tradition, characterized by Buddhist and Hindu iconography and narrative relief panels rooted in Theravada Buddhist and Hindu principles. Folk arts in this style feature basket making, wood and ivory carvings, and silver and gold works. In architecture, the style features temples patterned after Khmer temple mountains with sloping, stepped roofs comprised of small flat tiles, and the wihan, a rectangular building containing an altar with Buddhist images. In sculpture, the style is mostly devoted to the representation of Buddha in royal attire. Sculpture is constructed in bronze, lacquered wood, and sometimes stone and is adorned with inlaid glass or mother-of-pearl. Bas-relief sculpture is rare and is mostly found as wood murals, though mural scenes in lime mortar, stucco, or cement exist. Textile arts in the style feature silk cloth with ikat and weft designs that include dot patterns, geometric and zoomorphic motifs.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de stijl die in verband wordt gebracht met Laos, in het dal van de bovenloop van de Mekong. In de hybride stijl zijn Thaise, Myanmarese, en Khmer-invloeden te herkennen. De basis van de kunststijl van deze regio ligt in de religie en traditie, met boeddhistische en hindoeïstische iconografie en verhalende reliëfpanelen die wortelen in Theravada-boeddhistische en hindoeïstische principes. Kenmerkend voor volkskunst in deze stijl zijn manden, hout- en ivoorsnijwerk en zilver- en goudwerk. Kenmerkend voor architectuur in deze stijl zijn tempels naar model van Khmer-tempelbergen met schuine, trapvormige daken met kleine vlakke dakpannen, en de wihan, een rechthoekig gebouw met een altaar met boeddhistische afbeeldingen. In de beeldhouwkunst is deze stijl grotendeels toegepast voor het afbeelden van Boeddha in koninklijke gewaden. Beeldhouwwerken zijn vervaardigd uit brons, gelakt hout en soms steen en zijn versierd met ingelegd glas of paarlemoer. Bas-reliëfs zijn zeldzaam en worden meestal aangetroffen als houten wandbekleding, hoewel er ook muurtaferelen bekend zijn in kalkmortel, pleisterwerk of cement. Kenmerkend voor textielkunst in deze stijl zijn zijden stoffen met ikat- en ingeweven patronen met stippen en geometrische en zoömorfe motieven. |
| Spanish ..... Se refiere al estilo asociado con Laos localizado en el valle de Mekong Superior. El estilo híbrido refleja influencias Myanmar, tailandesas y de Khmer. La base del estilo artístico de esta región es la religión y la tradición, caracterizadas por la iconografía budista e hindú y tableros de relieve descriptivos que tienen sus raíces en los principios budistas, Theravada e hindúes. Las artes folclóricas en este estilo ofrecen cestería, tallado en madera y marfil y trabajos en plata y oro. En arquitectura, el estilo ofrece modelos de templos después de los templo montañas Khmer con techos inclinados, con tejas consistentes en azulejos lisos pequeños y el wihan, un edificio rectangular que contiene un altar con imágenes budistas. En escultura, el estilo se consagra principalmente a la representación de Buda en atavío real. La escultura se construye en bronce, madera barnizada y a veces piedra y se adorna con vidrio embutido o nácar.
