Note: Bibles which generally contain only illustrations, sometimes with short pieces of text. In the past, they were used to spread knowledge of the Bible to the uneducated. Numerous examples exist from the Middle Ages, although picture Bibles dating to the 11th and 12th centuries, as well as those dating as late as the 16th century, have been discovered.

| Dutch ..... Bijbels die meestal uitsluitend illustraties bevatten, soms in combinatie met korte teksten. In vroeger tijden werden ze gebruikt om Bijbelkennis onder ongeletterden te verspreiden. Er zijn talrijke middeleeuwse plaatjes-Bijbels bewaard gebleven, en zelfs exemplaren uit de 11de en 12de eeuw, maar er bestaan ook nog exemplaren uit de 16de eeuw. |
| German ..... Eine Bibel, die im Allgemeinen nur Bilder enthält, manchmal mit kurzen Textteilen. Früher wurden sie genutzt, um Wissen über die Bibel an die Ungebildeten zu vermitteln. Es existieren zahlreiche Exemplare aus dem Mittelalter; obwohl Bilderbibeln aus dem 11. und 12. Jahrhundert stammen, findet man auch solche bis ins 16. Jahrhundert. |
