Friday Nights at the Getty
The Watson Twins

Date: Friday, February 2, 2007, 7:30 p.m.
Location: Getty Center, Harold M. Williams Auditorium
Admission: Free; reservations required. This performance is sold out.

Friday Nights at the Getty is a free, contemporary performance series featuring an eclectic mix of music, dance, theater, and spoken word events.

This month, catch the Watson Twins, who have made an impression on the local music scene with their combination of vocal harmonies, intimate songwriting, and beautifully arranged melodies.

Sounds of L.A.
The Liän Ensemble

Sounds of L.A. celebrates the work of masters and up-and-coming musicians reflecting L.A.'s cultural mix.

This month's concerts feature L.A.'s own Liän Ensemble, which is dedicated to fusing mystical Persian music with a diverse range of genres. This critically acclaimed group's ever-evolving repertoire features traditional as well as original music presented in fresh and unexpected ways.

Gordon Getty Concerts feature outstanding musicians in performances that complement exhibitions at the Getty Center.

In February, enjoy German Romantic music from Vienna's award-winning Artis Quartet, internationally renowned for its technical virtuosity, extensive discography, and passionate performances. They unite with clarinetist Andy Lamy to present an evening featuring works by Mendelssohn, Schubert, and Brahms to complement the exhibition From Caspar David Friedrich to Gerhard Richter: German Paintings from Dresden.

The Aulos Ensemble

Concerts at the Villa present world-class musicians performing musical masterpieces inspired by ancient art and literature.

February's concerts present the Aulos Ensemble and renowned soprano Julianne Baird in a concert of French Baroque music featuring tales of star-crossed lovers from classical mythology including Diana and Actaeon, Pan and Syrinx, and Hero and Leander.

The Bacchae

These performances, originally scheduled for Friday–Sunday, February 23, 24, and 25, have been rescheduled for May 4, 5, and 6. We apologize for any inconvenience. An exciting new forum for the reinterpretation of classical theater, the Villa Theater Lab Series features new translations of Greek and Roman plays as well as contemporary works inspired by ancient literature.

This exciting new adaptation of Euripides' The Bacchae, directed by Brazilian director Gulu Monteiro, incorporates the sensuality of Brazilian dance and an energizing percussive score that celebrates the play's homage to the cult of Dionysus.
