Look at one of Edward Hopper's paintings and you feel an immediate emotional response. His sense of light and shadow, composition, and human drama are remarkable. Brian O'Doherty, a good friend of Hopper's, has compiled extraordinary archival footage and blended it with interviews, insights, and the paintings themselves to create an exquisite portrait of this quiet artist and his world. The screening will be followed by a conversation between Getty Scholars Brian O'Doherty and Barbara Novak.
Free; reservations required. Please note that the Getty Center is closed to the public on Monday, March 1, with the exception of this event.
