Getty Scholars' Workspace™

Program Period: January 2014–December 2015

This partnership grant advances development of the Getty Scholars' Workspace, an open-source digital environment that allows art historians and scholars in related fields to conduct collaborative research projects, unhindered by geographic boundaries, resulting in born-digital publications.

Developed by the Research Institute's Digital Art History program, the Scholars' Workspace will be an innovative research and publishing tool designed to provide a flexible, robust, and scalable environment to the international academic community. Designed to be released as a free, open-source software package with accompanying methodological and technical manuals, the Scholars' Workspace will help to transform how art-historical research is practiced and published.
