Following a major renovation, the Getty Villa in Malibu opened on Saturday, January 28, 2006. This cultural landmark returns with a new mission as an educational center and museum dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria. The Getty Villa serves a varied audience through the permanent collection, changing exhibitions, conservation, scholarship, research, and public programs. Complementing the opening of the Getty Villa are three inaugural exhibitions: Antiquity & Photography: Early Views of Ancient Mediterranean Sites, The Getty Villa Reimagined and Molten Color: Glassmaking in Antiquity All three exhibitions went on view at the Getty Villa on January 28, 2006.
