RECENT ADDITIONS TO THE J. PAUL GETTY MUSEUM COLLECTION
January 24, 2005
The J. Paul Getty Museum’s commitment to collecting is based on the belief that direct experience of an artwork is fundamental to understanding its social and historical context, meanings, and values. Each year, the Museum’s collection grows through numerous acquisitions and donations. Important works are sought in seven areas: Greek and Roman antiquities; European paintings, drawings, manuscripts, sculpture, and decorative arts; and European and American photographs. Below are additions made to the collection over the past year.
