Celebrate the first day of summer with tea and activities in the Getty Center's beautiful gardens, and a tour of the exhibition Maria Sibylla Merian & Daughters: Women of Art and Science.

Learn about the artistic and scientific explorations of German artist Maria Sibylla Merian (1647–1717) and her daughters Johanna and Dorothea. These adventurous women raised the artistic standards of natural history illustration.

Participants will receive a copy of our curriculum Art and Science: A Curriculum for K–12 Teachers to take home!

Revolutionary Europe: Three Centuries of Turmoil

This institute will introduce secondary-level teachers of literature, social sciences, and other humanities-based themes to the work of artists who lived through revolutionary changes in Europe.

Participants are eligible for Los Angeles Unified School District salary points.

Admission to the Getty is FREE. Admission to the Getty Villa requires an advance, timed ticket. Parking is $15, but FREE after 5:00 p.m. for Saturday evening hours at the Getty Center and for evening events at both locations.
