World Partnerships in Conservation
Thursday, June 14 | 7:30 p.m.

How are fragile objects of great age, such as Greek vases and Roman silver vessels, treated and preserved for the future? Go behind the scenes as three conservators of antiquities at the J. Paul Getty Museum—Jerry Podany, Eduardo Sánchez, and Marie Svoboda—reveal how they are studying and treating spectacular ancient artworks on loan to the Museum from institutions around the world and on view at the Getty Villa.

You'll learn about the conservation of four-foot-tall Greek vases, a hoard of Roman silver, and an ancient bust of the goddess Persephone, and hear how a rare marble sculpture from Sicily is being protected from earthquakes. Free; a ticket is required.
