Waterfall of Wishes

By Leslie Arenas

It was a sunny day at the Getty Museum when I saw a large waterfall. As I bent over to see it, I saw the way the water was beautifully falling. To me every single water droplet was in perfect position. I love how the people would throw their pennies in the water, hoping for their hopes and dreams to come true. When I took this picture I was mostly thinking of the kinds of wishes people would make. Someone might have wished for money or maybe even true love, but they all eventually wished for the same thing, happiness. I am still wondering if any came true, I really hope they did. When you see a penny in the picture, you also see a wish. In the picture every penny looks different. Some look like they have barely been thrown in, and some look like they have been in the water for a long time. Each penny has been sent to deliver a special wish.

The position that I took the picture in was sideways because you could see the falling water a hundred times better. The image contains a variety of shapes and forms. The pyramid made of bricks looks unbelievable in the background. Through my eyes I see a beautiful waterfall of wishes. I, as the photographer, see one thing, but it's interesting that a viewer can look at the same picture and see something else extraordinary.
