Fine Arts/Communications Symposium

Our high school is planning on offering a Fine Arts and Communications =
Symposium for 400 high school students across the district on November =
16. Our idea is to have an opening session with a professional steel =
drum band and an emcee followed by 3 breakout sessions in which students =
will have the opportunity to hear presentations in small groups by =
professionals in our community. We have invited media professionals, =
music, theatre, visual arts, and other related professionals. We have =
had financial backing from Arts Partners through a grant and are =
receiving additional help for tee shirts and bussing through the Tech =
Prep program and another grant. 200 of the students will be from our =
high school, and the remaining spots will be given to students at the =
other area high schools. We are very excited about this opportunity to =
increase awareness of career opportunities. If anyone out there has any =
additional ideas, I'd be interested in hearing about them.
