This is one of my jr. high students favorite sculpture projects. I cut
pieces of 2"X?" (what ever I can get my hands on) into a variety of organic
shapes. The students get a piece of wood, 2 U nails (probably not the real
name but it is the shape), leg from panty hose and piece of wire (about
18-24"). The students nail one end of the wire and twist the excess wire
then nail the other end and again twist the excess. Pull the hose leg over
the wire pulling the hose tight and gathering the excess hose and glue to the
bottom of the wood. Arrange the wire into desired form, push, pull,
whatever. Next we paint the form with primer and allow to dry thoroughly.
Then we draw designs and paint with acrylic paint.

If at all possible you need to try to go to the conference. They are always
great.
