Re: wire & pantyhose sculpture

While in college I constructed a wire sculpture using coat hangers and panty
hose. My project was to construct a space for the 2050 Worlds Fair. I wanted
a real Jetsons type of effect. I shaped my wire coat hangers and then pulled
panty hose over the structure, adjusted and hung them from a rack. I then
spray painted them. After they dried they were hard as a rock. I used epoxy
to adhere them to my base.

There are fabric stiffeners and/or glue would also work. Then you could paint
with tempera or acrylic paint. I have seen where people have stapled the wire
to a wood base and also drilled a hole and filled with wood glue.

Hope this helps!
