lesson plans for subs...any new ideas ??

Hello,
I have to be out for three days and need generic plans for a non-art sub.
Any new ideas out there ?? Or any ideas that you haven't posted yet ?? I have
a few but am always looking for more.
I usually leave this one for the 3rd - 5th grades,
Black paper picture starter
SUPPLIES 12/18 wht drawing paper, pencil, thin black markers, 9/12 black
construction paper, elmers glue or glue sticks, an imagination(this the
students must bring wit them :)
1) give each student a sheet of 9/12 black construction paper, a sheet of
12/18 white, They must first tear the construction paper into about 12
pieces, some big and some small, all weird shapes,not neat little rectangles
!!

2) After this point ther is to be no more tearing.
then they are to play around with the pieces finding 3 or more pieces to glue
down, these pieces will give them an idea of what to draw on the rest of the
paper.

for example: invariably some one finds a boot or shoe shape, with this you
can glue it down and (with pencil first) create the rest of the person, and
the scene that they are in.
a triangular piece can be a fish's tail or a piece of pizza or the top of a
house.

This is great to get them thinking in terms of shapes that make up the whole.
When the pencil drawing is finished the go over the lines in black skinny
marker.
these always make a great display. Once a kid saw that it looked like a state
on a map and proceeded to draw the rest of the United States !!
Make up an example or two to display onteh board, stress tha tthese are not
to be copied !!!!!!!
