Thanks a million to everyone who gave me their budget figures. I figure
if the adm sees that there are schools who fund the arts adaquately,
maybe they will too.. Hope so.
Also, we had our inservice on best ptactices in the fine arts- We had a
n excerpt from a book- It stated:
BP:-Students should do art, not just view art
-The arts should be integrated accross the curriculum as well as taught
as a separate discipline.
-Children need to exercise genuine choice, control, and responsibility
in their art making.
-Students should be helped to nurture their special talents and to find
their strongest art form.
=The arts should be used as a tool of thinking
-Students should experience a wide variety of art forms.
-Students should have oppertunities to share their work
-Children should attend a variety of professional art events
-Artists should be present in schools and classrooms
Anyway, that's I don't have the author, publisher, etc. but the title
is 'Best Practices
in Visual Art, Music, Dance, and Theater" I just thought I'd pass it
along. PS, I've been in this district 10 yrs, and this is the first
time our inservice has dealt with art ed. Thank You Lord!!!
