I tried to post this earlier, but don't think it went through...

Get as much info as you can on Diego Rivera. Also, look for a book called
Murals in Our Schools. You can also do an offshoot study on his wife, Frieda
Kahlo...

Does you school have a large Hispanic pop? If so, see if you can raise funds
to do a permanent mural somewhere in the school. Tie it in to either local
Hispanic history or Mexican history.

We did a mural in our school last year (99% hispanic) with 4,5 and 6 grades.
We were lucky in that we got a grant from the local museum to provide us
with supplies and a guest artist to help us work on this.

The mural we did was local history and was created with acrylic paint on
masonite panels (so we could work on it in the art room and then install it
later)

Maybe you can find a local business or org. to donate some materials? Our
students really enjoyed this project and were very proud of the finished
results.
