My 8th grade advanced art students start out exploring the element of space.
Review one pt. and learn 2 pt. perspective. Very structured step by step. But
once they've mastered the concepts and skills they use their imaginations to
create a part of a city in 2 pt. perspective: a minimum of ten buildings, add
windows, doors, signs, parks, sidewalks, fire hydrants, etc. A little
moaning and groaning at the beginning, but now they're trying to outdo each
other with the details. Some are adding color with colored pencils.

Evaluation based on accuracy of drawn forms, good use of space (12X18 white
paper), imagination/added details, and neatness.
