After reading other budget concerns and probelems, I consider myself
an exception in public school. I teach in a rural high school with a
9-12 student population of 360. My budget averages out to $43.00 per
sudent in my classes. We are on 10 block schedule. I teach three
Art I classes, Art II, three classes of Ceramics, Drawing I and II
and Multi Media (new class this year). We do charge students in
Ceramics a $10.00 clay recovery fee per quarter to help defray clay
and glaze cost.
My Multi Media class was made possible thru a grant. We will have
our own computer lab with six computers, two digital cameras, two
camcorders, laser color printer, scanner and lots of software for
drawing, composing and editing. I am excited.
My room is so crammed with stuff, we feel like sardines, but as long
as we get lots of supplies, I can continure to live with it.
I'll be retiring in two years after this one, so if anyone wants to
come to Missouri let me know.
