I know of only one public school that has an art gallery (though I'm sure
there are many), but many many private schools (especially boarding schools!)
have them. In fact, just about every boarding school in the Northeast has
one--especially if they have money! The most incredible one is the Addison
Gallery of American Art, which is located on the campus of Phillips Academy,
Andover, MA. This is an American Art museum with tremendous resources & a
phenomenal permanent collection! No other secondary school gallery even comes
close! I'm sure they have a website, but don't know it off hand. Another
full-fledged museum is the Slater Museum, which is part of Norwich Academy (a
public school!) in Norwich, CT. As for more typical situations, contact
Choate-Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, CT and the Loomis Chaffee School in West
Granby, CT for examples of galleries with small or no permanent collections
that host traveling exhibitions. Good luck!
