i've had good luck with plaster carving. here i can buy flats (6 x
8 x 1) as well as cubes (3 x 3 x 5), but if you can't buy them, you can
easily create your own forms by mixing plaster of paris and pouring it into
any cardboard box. what i find is that the behavior problems disappear.
the work is so physical, that it is calming and involving for the students.
start with the flats, because a relief sculpture is much easier than a full
3 dimensional piece. good luck, eileen
