I taught elementary art in Vero Beach, Florida about ten years ago and
was really pulling for all of you on the Atlantic Coast this past week.
The eye of Hurricane David passed over Vero Beach in 1979, but was just
barely a hurricane (about 80 miles per hour winds), so there was very
little damage. Our pool was filled to about a foot on the bottom with
twigs and leaves. We were without power for about five days and that's
a long time to go without a shower in September in Florida! I was so
happy to hear that you were spared the worst and have been praying
instead for those folks in the Carolinas. May the healing and cleaning
up begin for all.
