How about tying in with the work of Winslow Homer who went down to the
battlefields as a correspondent for Harper's Weekly? He rarely painted the
war itself, but rather focused on the quiet moments shared by the soldiers
while in camp etc. Through his drawings, paintings and etchings, your
students would have the opportunity to look at the Civil War from a very
unique perspective.
