Hi all...I just wanted to post a lesson idea that I "tried out" on my fourth
graders yesterday...they loved it. I always start the year with some sort of
"ME" thing..whether it be self=portraits in differnt media or whatever comes
to mind. Yesterday I found a bunch of yarn which started me thinking. So
what we did was combine the art of Mexican Nearikas with ourselves. They
were instrcuted to be creative with color...some faces are blue, some hair
bright pink. (When they are finished with the head they will finish the
background last and add patterns if they stripes, etc...or maybe
just solids) and they created their own unique patterns with the
yarn...swirls like the mexican tradition on some. Let me tell you...I have a
feeling these are gonna be great when finished. I knwo I haven't re-invented
the wheel but thought I would just post it if someone happened to want a
cool idea. Do you all have some ideas of projects that you do with yarn that
you would like to share? Thanks, Stephanie
