Dear Sharon,
A painter you might consider for your "winners" course, is Chuck Close.
As a young boy he became involved with art as a way to overcome his
learning disabilities. As he said, "Most educators in the 1940's didn't
know about LDs or dyslexia. In 1988, Chuck who was 48 and a working
painter, suffered a collapse of the spinal artery which left him
partially paralyzed. He paints in a wheelchair using various hydraulics
to lift himself and the larger than life portraits he paints.
