<< this course
is not quite "academic" enough and they want me to come up with ways to be
sure that students would have quite a bit of homework each night (given that
the rest of the students on campus will be doing homework and since this is
an accredited course).
Can anyone suggest a text that could be assigned to supplement a course like
this OR come up with another way to make this more academic in nature? I
need to rewrite the proposal by Tuesday, or come up with something else,
entirely....

Dear Sharon,
Could you have your students conduct an interview with a practicing "artist"
such as an architect, designer, etc. and then write an in depth report? It
is a field that has so much variety and the paths can have twists, ie
illustrator turned interior designer. I had an assignment in high school to
interview someone OVER age 85 and it was quite memorable. Is this academic
enough?
