I would definitely go! Be honest with the district, tell them
it's very important (recognition or whatever for your husband)
and that you will be going. My district let me go to Paris with
my fiance last year with his job. I took 4 days off, all with
pay. They allowed me to use sick days as well. Then I made
sure I didn't miss any other days all year. If you have to take
it without pay, so what? It's worth it to get to go somewhere
you may never see again. (I also mentioned the fact that I
ALWAYS bring back teaching ideas from wherever I go. I followed
the trip with lessons on French artists, mainly Impressionists.
The kids were able to say to their teachers that "Ms. Sanford
learned this in Paris so she taught us" which also helped.)
Good luck (and don't you DARE not go!!)
