"I have checked with a couple of local places regarding show venues for
my kids' work. Now I need to figure out a way to make display stand
thingies. Any ideas?

Go to your local Menards, Lowe's, or any other home improvement store.  You
can get really inexpensive, light-weight hollow doors (I think they are
called "core
doors" ?)  Anyway,  if you get two or three, you can use hinges to attach
them together.  They fold up easily and stand when you open them at a
slight angle.  You can paint them, cover them with cloth or even cork board
to attach artwork easily.  I have painted mine and used velcro strips and
cork strips to attach artwork.  I hope this helps!
