<<Hi, 32 year old DBAE teacher took over for a very non-structured non art
person who used to teach my advanced students. They think I am Hitler. On
the second day they asked me to bring in my portfolio to see if I could
TEACH! I am not a practicing artist, but feel comfortable with my abilities.
How much of this should I take? Tomorrow we start a collage based on Romare
Bearden. They are gonna hate learning about an artist and then creating a
personal montage. ANy suggestions???Thanks>>
Sounds a lot like the situation I found myself in a few years (well many
years) back. The previous teacher was extremely popular with the students
because of his laid back attitude... a friend told me her daughter got an A
from him because she beat him in a Battleship game... you get my drift.
I had to tell them, no I am not the previous teacher, and I expect a great
deal of you because I know how talented you are, and also have a great deal I
want to teach you in the short time we are together.
Be tough! :)
