Dear Kimberly,
I, too, was "infected" with Ethan this summer, and my Norton told me I was
"clean" when I was not. It is very strange, as it is considered a relatively
common bug, but it did wreak havoc on my business, as my clients were upset
with emails that had designs that when dowloading was attempted, it showed
up. I had to go in and scan just about every Word file I owned, and the
(what I suspect) original infected file could not be repaired. It is still
in quarantine....waiting, lurking...yuck.

<< Dear List,
We are having a computer problem. I'm the default "computer expert",
because I like them and know all our programs. Usually I can solve the
glitches. Now I have a problem I can't solve. One of the museum computers
has the Ethan virus. I've "cleaned" it twice with McAfee. I cleaned all the
effected documents and deleted the C://Ethan._____ file, at least the
program said I did. After "cleaning" it I reran the program, and it said
that the computer was virus free. I even opened test documents and ran the
virus check on them, it showed them not infected. The next time the staff
member tried to send a document via e-mail, the title came up Ethan Frome,
and she received a message that the document was infected and had been
cleaned. Help, we are hosting TCA this week and the opening of the new San
Angelo Museum of Fine Arts and Education Center building is in 23 days. We
can't afford to have the development office computer down.
