I just couldn't let this one pass by unnoticed:
e-mail from Getty:
"There are no immediate plans to include graphics in our online =
newsletter. We may consider it in the near future."
My response:
Absolutely amazing!
Germany, Italy, France, Japan, and Australia are creating some =
incredible
graphics with Macromedia graphics programs, I would have thought with an
annual 96 M for the arts would allow the Getty Foundation to be ahead of =
the
game of multimedia on the web?
How can a visual organization produce text-ridden web sites when the
technology for graphics is upon us? After all visual arts is a, =
primarily, a
non-verbal means of communication. It would be like the Getty Museum had =
only
text plastered on its walls!
With limited time and resources many of us - in the visual arts - are
attempting to combat this over-verbal representation of visual arts =
training.
You don't talk art production - you produce it!
