I work as an Artist-in-the-Schools developing art activities to complement
social studies curriculum. Last year I worked exclusively with fifth
graders on Native American crafts, however this year, the same teachers
have asked me to add some art lessons based on the life of early white
settlers. These classes are very large and have extremely mixed ability
levels so I have to keep the projects fairly simple,
but they do go on for several months so I can do something long term.
They love clay!
Any project ideas would be greatly appreciated. Living in Hawaii, our
students get very little exposure to this sort of thing. You can write me
directly or post to the list for the enjoyment of others.
with thanks and aloha!
