some time ago i saw a project in school arts in which students used
refrigerator box cardboard opened up to make something like a little room.
on one side of the room, war was represented, and the other side, peace -
images, words, colors...it was very powerful and moving, looked like a
great idea. my memory of the specifics is a little vague but if you have
access to back issues at the library or something...we are doing a school
wide conflict resolution unit this week in homeroom at my ms. today one of
my students asked "how come in history we learn about all the wars and
battles and killing but never about people who get along and are nice to
each other?" well?
