I do art on a cart also. It was good to hear that I am not the only one with
an insane schedule. I am up at 5, take my daughter to a class that starts at
6, pick her up at 6:40 and take her to school by 7 and then I head on to work.
I am at work just before 8. I have 1 cart and I teach 20 art classes a week.
k-8th. I also teach language arts to a group of second graders every a.m for
an hour. I do the bulletine boards, faculty advisor stuff, committee work,
yard duty work, meetings meetings, meetings, Fine Arts Festival, and anything
else that my peers drop off on my desk that's art related. Yeah the lesson
plans take a ton of time and the prep work is time consuming for art and
reading. None of the classes have sinks. I can't black out most of the rooms
to show slides. I have my desk and cart in the back of another teachers
classroom. The dress code is- female teachers must wear conservative dresses
and nylons. Me and the custodian are the last ones out of the building every
night. I try to get home between 6 and 7. Some days I get home by 4 or 5.
I'm a single mom w/ 2 kids at college and one at home. Oh the things you do
for art! Yeah, I'm sorta tired. . . . .
