I have seen students 9 times by the time I am expected to "grade" them
at semester. We use V-S-N. No one gets an N. I recognize consistently
superior work with a V. I agree that is not great but would like to know
what other methods are being employed by you - art teachers in the
field. I will take these results to my Curriculum supervisor. Thanks. I
have 960 students that I see every other week for 1 hour. $ is good,
good community, very supportive of the arts.

Last year we switched marking for "Specials" to Developing as
expected/Needs development. This eliminates many shades of gray and of
course for lower el., most are Dev. as expected. Parents can understand
and we're not going nuts trying to wade thru 600-800 kids with a fine
toothed comb!
