A lot of it is preparation and organization which is time-consuming BUT less
strenuous than running around doing it during a class. Student helpers are
the best thing after inventing the wheel. Younger kids LOVE to help. Middle
Schoolers may whine except for a few who really need it for self-esteem
boosts.
I also solved it by having a responsible kid help ( 6th grader)as an aide from
the after-school program. He comes in and sweeps, puts chairs up, runs errands
to the office. Also, my principal got me a parent volunteer-aide for about 4
hours a week. She does my xeroxs and preparation for my lowest grades and
even stays when I have Kindergarten to help the kids. She has even done my
simple displays. Ask and thy shall receive.
