Regarding Ann's suggestion of moving from discussing line into 3D wire
We talked about shapes in 2nd grade last week, brainstorming all the different
kinds in our sketchbooks, then making a paper project using flourescent shapes
(overlapping, patterns, off the page, etc...).
This week we will show the connection between shape and form by having them
use 3D blocks (pyramids, cubes, spheres, cylinders, etc...) to show which one
a triangle becomes (etc...).
Finally we will use pipe cleaners to demonstrate that line makes shape and
shape becomes form just as Ann suggested. Where the project goes from there,
who knows? Only their creativity will tell. The project might remain design
oriented or become more subjective (animals, vehicles, people, places, etc...)
But I'm not going to suggest anything...I'll just give them a few periods to
work on it and see what we have. I plan to suspend them from the ceiling when
