A reading teacher would like me to do book illustrations with her class
of 19 eighth grade students, and they are each reading different books.
They write a book review for their book and then illustrate a scene or
theme from their books. The purpose for this art work is to attract
attention to their writing pieces displayed on open-house night. I
have five class periods for this.
I attempted this last year (my first year in this school) and it was not
much of a learning experience for anyone--like trying to teach 19
different lessons at once... .
I have some thoughts about limiting imagery to a character, structure,
or object, and creating a la Matisse... But was hoping that the
collective wisdom of this group might have suggestions, or point me in
another direction for a solution.
In advance: Many thanks!!
