Yes, the Venezia series is a great collection and I highly recommend it
for any elementary classroom. To cover women artists more fully at this
age level, I would consider the series ³Portraits of Women Artists² by
Turner. There are four books in this grade 3 and above series, covering
(quite well, indeed) Frida Kahlo, Dorthea Lange, Faith Ringold, and
Georgia O¹Keeffe. You can find them in the Sax Visual Arts Resource
catalog p. 15 for approx. $15.95.
Another book you might want to look at is ³Inspirations: Stories About
Women Artists² by Leslie Sills. It covers O¹Keeffe, Kahlo, Neel, and
Ringold. The ISBN# is: 0-8075-3649-0
Hope this helps.
