Mary Ann,
A friend and myself developed what we call Sketchbook pages. The
page has 5 boxes, a place for the student to write name, period, this
weeks theme, and an area for them on Friday to write what they thought of
that weeks theme.
The kids come into class, get their sketchbook page and draw in 1
box a day for 10 minutes. It stays in their portfolio until Fri. when they
are taken up.
Look in the archives, I believe my friend Heidi has listed a past
years worth of themes she used.
Last week we did: Create a dinner plate with food and a utensil.
This weeks is: What did the pathfinder find on Mars ?
I take a weekly grade for these.
We developed these to have time for attendence, handing out
materials , etc. It has been very helpful to both of us. For more
information about themes, contact Heidi McElroy at hmcelroy
Hope this helps. Teresa
