Today is a sad day, for one of the legend film makers of this
century has died. AKIRA KUROSAWA has died at the age of 88(?). I
will always remember "Ran", "Dreams", and "Seven Samurai", but my
favorite will always be "High and Low". I urge everyone to see his
work(on film if you can), you will not be disappointed. Sometimes
graphic, sometimes violent
(all right always) but always creative and stimulating. There is a
scene in High and low (which is B/W and the smoke coming out a shaft
is pink(red)),I think 1962. When you look at Bergman or Kurosawa,
trouffet(sp) or Fellini, Bertolucci and other greats, you can see
how they influence our present rein of filmmaker's. Spielberg
although a leader in his own right, has had some great teachers
before him!!
Please a moment of silence and a half bow for the master.....
Thank you!!
