I had a painting problem many years ago that used the earth, Literally.

We took samples of different things that make colors that were natural. such
as dirt. red earth, from the sierras, cumin( spice), paprika, berries, juices,
etc. from the earth. We combined these and anything that would produce color
and mixed it with white glue and water.

This made a temporary paint that was applied with large cheap brushes on
canvas, using a non objective design idea creating natual pigment "Earth "
paintings.

The kids ( high school) liked it because it was fun to create color with such
different materials. You could try this with your combined classes for the
earth part of your program.
