I visited this site through the web links off of the art and ecology
section of the Getty web site. It is
a very interesting site to visit! It is very user friendly and has some
great visuals! This architect
Paolo Santi has entertwined achitecture and the enviroment to create a
housing project in the
Arizona desert in an effort to try to find new ways for large cities to
exist better in the enviroment.
It is almost like an artist type of community, there are a lot of great
little towns in Arizona that
artists live and work and this one is trying to be ecologically friendly at
the same time. The great
thing about this is that this town also has workshops and educational ideas
to help others learn
how to live WITH the enviroment.
THis other link is called Project Learning Tree and I really honestly only
skimmed through but it
also has interesting ideas of linking education and ecology.
This is an artist Mierle Ukeles who integrated garbage and dumping into her
art and really has
some great stuff. HEr work is discussed in detail and a couple of works are
shown. It is definitely
worth the time to muttle through- you'll catch the pun when you check it
