I have to agree with you on the grading issue, although I think grading
is
the least pleasurable aspect of teaching.(but unfortunately, necessary)
At the high school where I teach, we use an evaluation sheet which lists
the objectives of the lesson, what aspects we will be grading (focus
correcting) ,self evaluation check list. We also include craftsmanship,
using original ideas as well as working to objectives. It helps to have
concrete factors for the students to use. Since all the art teachers in
the department grade like this, it is consistent and we are continually
looking for ways to improve this process.
