Greetings,
My name is Kathleen Petrillo and I am an art education major at the
State University of New York. I am among the students involved in the
listserve and interested in the arts and ecology part of the artsednet
web site. I visited the site yesterday and I am very impressed with the
amount of artists that are involved with the enviroment. Being from the
Hudson Valley I am interested in knowing if there are any artists that
are doing anything that has to do with the Hudson River. Which has been
polluted for years by major corporations.
The other thing that I read and have to comment on is life centered
issues and their cohersion with the ecologically based art. At the
heart of these issues are vierws about community participation,
communication and ecological sustainability. Community based
interaction is a must for themes that these artists are addressing. If
there is anything that anyone or group can do to rectify the ecological
mishap in the community the community must be together to do it.
