Perhaps "Kindergarten " has different meaning in defferent countries.
Here it is the Preschool , local council or privately run centres
where the children attend for 2.5 hour 4 days per week. The
kindergarten directoress usually has 2 groups operating.4 year olds
but there are now some 3 year old groups too. This is different from
Day Care Centres which are basically Child minding. Kindergarten
teachers have a 3 or 4 year teaching degree. School start is 5 here
but varies a little from state to state. I think it is too young.
6 would be a better age.
The 1st school group is called Prep. then there are 6 "grades' after
that in Primnary school.
Many of our "Prep" classes do not have as much art as i would hope
and ...Shudder Shudder... are colouring in worksheet driven!
