I recently graduated from high school and attended an Art II class under I.S. I have read your inquiry and feel that for
the most part, it is about trust. You wonder if whether or not you should assign journals and such to make sure that your students are accomplishing their assignments in the time provided. I was taken under I.S. on the grounds that
I am a trustworthy art student and have a reputation for completing my assignments ahead of time. I think you should take to thought the record of the students you are planning to place into I.S. That way, you will be able to
decide if whether or not they can work successfully by themselves.

On a note, I graduated June 6, 1997. The skills I obtained
through I.S. have played a major role in many of my acheivements in the art field. I am now attending The University of Guam under a full four year scholarship.
Through which, I will be graduating in the year 2001 as
a Secondary Ed. Art Major.

I hope I have been of some help.
Thank You

Michele Blas
A graduate of the I.S. program
